Quality Control (QC/QA) Diamond Planning/Preparation Trainer
Main Purpose of the Job
This is a critical position with technical expertise requirement. The QC/QA Diamond Planning/Preparation Trainer responsibilities are to train new employees, providing skills enhancement technics to QC/QA Preparation operatives, ensures the deployment of Tiffany & Co. specifications and standards for planning/preparing and optimizing diamonds. The Trainer is also responsible for Laurelton Diamonds QC Preparation procedures and working methods development, training and deployment. He/she is also responsible for ensuring that quality specifications and productivity standards are maintained to protect diamond yield and diamond value retention. The QC/QA Planning/Preparation Trainer, together with the Team Leader are also responsible for setting and assessing parameters of diamonds for all QC/QA Preparation and Preparation processes against the Tiffany & Co quality specifications.
Key Performance Areas:
· Training of fresh trainees, conducting refresher training as required to ensure that Tiffany & Co. quality specification and standards are met during production. This ensures that Laurelton Diamonds, diamond value retention is not compromised.· Ensuring that Preparation Diamond Polishers are equipped with the necessary skills to understand quality specifications requirements and expectations.· He/she is the technical expert in Quality Specification, Standards, Procedures for Planning and optimizing of diamonds, as well as guidance in quality control and quality assurance procedures.· Liaise intensively with quality control preparation operatives, and polishers.· Engages and provides problem solving techniques to the preparation teams (both QC/QA and Polishing), provides feedback in a timely manner on quality challenges and discrepancies. Identifies quality problems and make suggestions for corrective/preventive actions.· Monitors and provides technical guidance to trainees and seasoned staff, takes corrective action whenever quality/productivity issues arise.· Ensures that production output meets quality specifications, and standards in QC/QA sections, deploys specifications, standards and directives directed at diamond optimization and value retention through the section Team Leaders.· Ensures that the training meets Laurelton Diamonds and Tiffany & Co. standards to ensure that product specifications are met in key areas of polishing to achieve required standards of accuracy, proportions, maximization of yield and overall quality of polishing.· Ensuring that training is targeted with emphasis on “doing it right the first time”.· In line with training learning curves, he/she tracks staff performance against targets and give feedback to ensure optimal performance levels are attained for new QC/QA staff and other staff in training.· Ensures that training outcomes for employees on training meet the level of achievement standard on specific areas of training as per defined learning outcomes standards.· Provides recommendations to Team Leader for staff on post-training confirmation of employment, redeployment etc. based on aptitude assessments during training.· Provides stone by stone feedback in a timely manner when, in his/her judgment, it is required as the first line of quality management for polishers to deliver defined specifications for diamond quality
Qualifications:
· Cambridge Certificate· Certificate in Gemmology or higher in a related field· Good practical experience in Planning of diamonds for polishing with preference for expertise in triple excellent quality standards for diamonds.· Good Diamond knowledge, diamond grading parameters as well as manufacturing parameters to assure, clarity, colour, cut & carat.· knowledge of Sarin software and its operation· Have a thorough understanding of workflows in both diamond planning/preparation and production area.
Experience:
· At least 5 years’ experience in Quality Control Planning/Preparation in a diamond manufacturing environment.· Good track record as a trainer in the Planning/Preparation field for diamonds with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
Competencies:
· Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills· Experience in rough diamonds processing with good knowledge of the diamond manufacturing process· Strong consultative service skills.· Adaptability· Be able to develop training materials· Facilitation skills enhancement· Subject matter expert in diamond planning technology, processing hardware and specifications development and deployment as well as skills training and enhancement.
